I have reason to believe that certain authors of books, online publications and websites devoted to supporting the claims that Gustave Whitehead flew in a powered, controlled, heavier-than-air machine in 1901 and 1902 are in possession of information and files that they have been withholding from the public.
One set of papers being withheld reputedly were the property of Stella Randolph. These papers then are said to have passed to Maj. Wm. O'Dwyer, then to the current holder.
I call on those persons to release that material immediately, on their websites or through another means accessible to the public, regardless of whether the material supports or undercuts the claims of flight by Whitehead in 1901 and 1902.
The sole objective of all who are interested in the Whitehead story ought to be seeking the truth of the matter, not in second-guessing whether a piece of information might harm the Whitehead claims.
Transcripts, video tapes and audio tapes of interviews, as well as correspondence, are, I believe, among that material being suppressed and withheld from public scrutiny.
